Green Tara (Syamatara), the beloved female Bodhisattva of compassion, active protection, and swift relief from suffering. She is depicted in her classic posture of ease (lalitasana), seated on a lotus throne with her right foot extended forward onto a small lotus pedestal, signifying her readiness to step down and assist all living beings. Her right hand is open in the Varada Mudra (the gesture of boon-granting and generosity), while her left hand is raised near her heart in the Vitarka Mudra (the gesture of teaching and protection), holding the stem of a blue night lotus (utpala) that blooms over her left shoulder. Framing the central figure is an elaborate, glowing golden archway adorned with intricate scrolling foliage, vibrant blossoms, and mythical creatures such as golden dragons at the top and snow lions at the sides. Directly above Green Tara, Amitabha Buddha—her spiritual father—is depicted seated upon a lotus throne in a radiating circular halo. At the base of the composition, two accompanying deities stand on individual lotus bases: a serene golden figure on the left and a dynamic, wrathful blue deity on the right, flanked by fine offering tables and ritual symbols set against a deep blue background.
